The Family Circle Clinic is a community-based osteopathic clinic that supports families in the broadest sense. We recognise that family life is central to a child’s healthy growth and development, and that the adults around them also need care, support and understanding. As society’s understanding of family continues to evolve, the clinic’s vision is to help children grow and thrive within the realities of 21st-century life and an inclusive community.
The clinic is dedicated to providing osteopathic care, where appropriate, for pregnant women, babies, children and young people through to adolescence. We also welcome partners and wider family members, recognising that they too form part of the Family Circle.
On some occasions, we may invite more than one family member to attend a consultation where we feel this would benefit the health and wellbeing of the family as a whole. Our aim is to support the development and wellbeing of the entire Family Circle whenever this is appropriate.
Osteopathy is the principal form of care we provide. However, where another healthcare professional or service would better meet a family’s needs, we will be happy to recommend an appropriate referral.
The Family Circle Clinic also forms part of Giles Cleghorn’s teaching programme. From time to time, Giles and other members of the team may mentor qualified osteopaths who are developing their clinical skills. Families may therefore be invited to take part in supervised teaching clinics, allowing practitioners to gain valuable real-time clinical experience. Participation is entirely voluntary, and choosing not to take part will not affect your care in any way.
